July 18, 2021, Kids Need Both, Inc. will be hosting an event with the theme “Raising children independent of Divorce (How do we teach children to be independent and still love themselves and their other parent)”. Jayna Haney, founder of the Bridge Across for single parents and stepfamilies, will be one of the esteemed guest panelists.

On her website https://www.thebridgeacross.com/ with the blog titled “How to Navigate Co-Parenting Without Feeding Into Parental Alienation”, she stated that it is important not to triangulate children into one’s parents’ anger over the former partner. Children want their parents to go along smoothly despite all the challenges in the relationship. Badmouthing the other parent clearly would not make a child either young or an adult, happy.

Children grow up to be responsible for their feelings and actions as a result of how parents treat each other. Raising children is a hard task, making them love both parents is a team effort. Parents have the choice on how their children would end up, either resentful or accepting. It will always be the parents’ responsibility to raise their children independent of divorce.
